Paris: Le Summary

Right, as a number of people have asked for it on the message board, here’s a brief summary of the who-what-where for the weekend in Paris.

You should all have your match tickets now, if not, then they’re all sold out! We went through the process of travel in our article on Getting Around.

Various contributors to the message board (the Lashing with Lincoln posse, Leipziger, Workie Ticket) are going to be in the Ibis bar from mid Friday afternoon. There is talk of a trip to the Moulin Rouge on Friday night, with the official party appearing to be based at O’Sullivan’s Bar, near the Moulin Rouge, on both Friday and Saturday evenings. There’s also a free pint (if you produce your match ticket) at the Frog & Rosbif on Rue st-Denis.

For the more adventurous among you, you could try watching the Toulouse-Saints game in the Toulouse supporters bar at 80 boulevard Vincent Auriol. If you are in another bar and think you might be able to persuade the owner to put the rugby on, Toulouse-Saints is on the Sport + (pronounced “Spore Ploos”) satellite channel, whilst Stade-Falcons is on terrestrial channel FR2.

Stade-Falcons is also on Sky Sports 2 on Saturday, so don’t forget to set the video!

Saturday - if you’ve still got energy left - and we’re planning a get together of as many Falcons supporters as possible at the Eiffel Tower (now renamed the Big Metal Thingy) at midday. If you know people going to Paris, and they haven’t heard, LET THEM KNOW! Let’s let the Parisians know that we’re there to enjoy ourselves, enjoy their beautiful city, win a game of rugby, and make lots of new friends. The more Falcons we can get there at midday on Saturday, the better!

After that, we’re heading off to the Parc des Princes for a rugby match. If you get off the metro at Porte de St Cloud, you’ll come across a bar co-owned by Christophe Dominici called Les Princes, which Lom and I (and the Stade supporters, it seems) highly recommend.

And if you want/need/are forced to go shopping, head for Samaritane near Pont Neuf (metro - Pont Neuf, line 7), a very large department store. If you head from here slightly away from the river Seine, you’ll see some of the names you see in any British city centre, plus some that are now gone, like C & A.

Don’t be afraid in restaurants to ask if they have a menu in English - most do. And smile, you’d be amazed how much it helps.
