Picture the Season - Little Drummer Boy

This is something I'd like to be the first in a long series. Particularly I wish to build up a supply of these to see us through the summer. To do this we'll need your help.

My Picture of the Season

Picture the Season

Little Drummer Boy by BrianC

Stade des Sept Deniers, Toulouse, 12th October 2002.

We had just come out of our first ever HC game and were in search of a beer. Although we had been narrowly beaten by 28-23 by Toulouse most of us had been impressed by our teams performance on the field.

It is fair to say that most of us had been impressed by the quality and organization of the Toulouse support. Two large batteries of drums, a flag that covered the South stand, even an air raid siren to add to the atmosphere. Depending on your point of view we have a lot to thank, or blame, the Toulouse supporters for this season.

Standing outside the stadium, beer in hand, we spotted this young chap eating some chips from the top of his drum. He seemed very happy, if somewhat bemused by all the people with strange green hair around him. With his parents permission, I managed to get another photo of him in a green wig, it's not as good as this one.

I am one of those people who think the Toulouse game was where we turned the corner this season. Off the pitch as well, since the lesson that the Toulouse supporters gave us, I don't think things will ever be the same at the Madstad.

They start their drummers young in Toulouse.

If you have a photograph that particularly says something to you about London Irish, or your experiences as a supporter, why not share it with the rest of the family. If you have the photograph in electronic format it can be mailed to us. Failing that,  we can collect it and scan it in. As I've done above, please supply any photograph together with a bit of commentary to explain the background. - brianc@londonirish.org
