Preview: Worcester v Harlequins

Harlequins return to the business on the domestic championship this weekend with a tricky away trip to Worcester. Kick off on Saturday October 24th is at 3.00pm at Sixways. It is not sure whether this is a new tactic employed by the home team, as Quins recent visits to Sixways have all been evening kick offs.

Returning from their two Heineken cup matches the Harlequins story is close but no cigar. The supporters were enthralled with a 14-0 half time lead against Toulouse which was squandered in  the space of just eight second half minutes.  It is encouraging to report that Harlequins last visit to Sixways triggered an eight match unbeaten run in all matches, something Quins fans would love to enjoy again. The team were disappointed at the weekend but they did continue to create try scoring opportunities, if only they could be put away, and Quins proved a good match for Toulouse. Premiership form, one win from five is not good but their is the opportunity this weekend to turn that around. If Quins play to their capabilities they should be able to chalk up their first away win of the season, although Worcester believe that they can produce a home win. Worcester have targeted this as a must win game as they too try to revive their Guinness Premiership fortunes.. History has shown that Worcester is a good venue to pick up points, and whilst we are unlikely to see Quins repeat their 60-14 thrashing of Worcester, at The Stoop back in April, a win is by no means unthinkable.

Quins qill be out their Captain Will Skinner who left the field with an ankle injury last week, but the team will be boosted by the return of George Robson from suspension. It is likely that new signing hooker Matt Cairns may be on the bench, as well as Nils Mordt who had a run out against Gloucester in Monday night.

A must win game for both teams should see an exciting game, although with wet weather forecast a greasy ball will no doubt play its part. If Quins can get it together they will win, they just need to get the basics right, provide support and look for the passing opportunity to force their way to the try line.
