Fixture change for the Leeds away game

The Leeds Carnegie v Harlequins Guinness Premiership Round 10 fixture, previously scheduled for Sunday 6th December, will now be played on Friday 4th December at 7.30pm.

Leeds Carnegie have confirmed that their Guinness Premiership clash with Harlequins at Headingley Carnegie will now be played on Friday 4th December, kick off 7.30pm.

The game had initially been scheduled for Sunday afternoon but has been brought forward by 48 hours at the request of the club's coaching staff.

Commenting on the switch Chief Executive Gary Hetherington, "After consultation with our supporters we elected to play the majority of our home games on Sunday afternoons at 3pm. However following discussions with our coaching staff we have decided to request a move for the Quins game to Friday night. The following week the team face a difficult trip in terms of logistics to Romania in the Amlin Challenge Cup and this will allow the most amount of time to prepare for that trip.

"Friday nights have proved popular in the past and hopefully fans will enjoy an early night out together ahead of Christmas and come down and support the team," added Hetherington.

All match tickets already purchased for this game are still valid and there is no need for fans to contact the ticket office to organise new tickets.

Any reason for the change or do they just want fewer away supporters there?

It was bad enough on a Sunday but at least I could have gone. Now the journey is impossible without time off work. Does Leeds Rugby League have a fixture?

Damn and blast

Both Leeds Carnegie and Quins sites still showing Sunday 6th. I think a phone call to Leeds is in the offing.

According to Leeds, when asked why the switch, the answer is it's 'something that's been agreed between the clubs'. Refunds are avaiable if you've booked already.

Flagmeister, it sounds like your coaching staff wanted it and they have also used the 'the fans like it' reason too

Pretty self explanatory -

'coaching staff we have decided to request a move for the Quins game to Friday night. The following week the team face a difficult trip in terms of logistics to Romania in the Amlin Challenge Cup and this will allow the most amount of time to prepare for that trip. '

Fair play its a pig of a trip for Leeds - shame it rather short notice but hey ho

Apparently it is because Leeds have a diffcult journey to Romania the following week.

Well this fan doesn't like it. I bought the tickets from Quins on Thursday last week and there was no hint of a change of date for the fixture.

Having bought the match tickets I now have unrefundable train tickets to the tune of £76.And match tickets that won't be used.

Would think you could claim against Leeds as it is not a reason that has not been known about for a long while.

And with less than a month to go before the game, clubs shouldn't be allowed to switched games at this late stage!

What a farce!

Really put a spanner in the works, means I probably can't go... the train cost up there is ridiculous and im not able to get a return time back due to the late finish of the game.

Quinssa coach still going?

Has Romania moved? Why is it difficult to get there? Presume they would be flying??

Don't think anybody has told Quins. There is nothing on the Offy and the on line ticket sales still show it is as 6th December.

And yes, before anybody says it, I am going to ring the club.

An easy mistake Prof although as I'm in Sheffield, and everything Leeds is a no no around here I could take offence. Being a Quin though obviously I won't !!!!

I might go to the game anyway, but stay overnight from friday.

I was going to stay in the city centre and travel to the game from there, or is there a better place to be more nearby?

You could try the Headingley Lodge - it's part of the stadium complex so you can't get much closer. Not stayed myself, but know plenty who have who tell me it's very nice.

Still a Tyke - whatever the name!

I got our tickets direct from Leeds but a quick email yesterday to them once I heard the news and I got a refund this morning. Still disappointed that we cannot go. A chance missed to see Harley Quin on his (nearly) home ground!
Since we were driving up and staying with friends no extra expense was involved. Sorry for those less fortunate. I guess there will be fewer Quins there now.

Well can't say I'm overly impressed with the change but the powers that be have made the decision. Thanks Baldric have booked into the Headingly Lodge for Friday 4th - so there are places available.
