No, this isn’t another story about Wasps moving (although it does look like Wycombe Wanderers are confident of the move going ahead since they have started work on the new pitch and they have apparently just received a large rugby post shaped parcel!).

Quins have recently signed Jon Hammond – no not the John Hammond who was the discoverer of great jazz and blues stars like Count Basie, Billie Holiday, Robert Johnson and writer of the Mighty Quinn - Bob Dylan, nor is it the John Hammond who was famous for building Jurassic park - although we could do with an archaeologist to find out more about The Stoop being built on an old gypsy graveyard hence the curse on the number 7 shirt!
No, the Jon Hammond that we have signed comes from the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe – the same school that Nick Duncombe attended.

Jon Hammond is an 18 year old full back and he has signed a two year contract. He was described by his rugby master (Colin Tattersall) as a ‘precocious talent’ who can play on the wing as well. Hammond said the only team he wanted to sign for was Quins – the fact that his school mate was already there probably had bearing on his decision.

Hammond has already been selected for England U18 and scored the winning try against Australia on their tour of Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
