Calling all Authors!

Monday 30th August is Week1, and from that moment on - and throughout the season, all contributions are very welcome. There are lots of ways to contribute articles:

Match Reports

Every Monday following a game, CAW carries a match report. In seasons past the idea of CAW has been to try and have as many different match reporters as possible - and 04/05 is no different. We'll play 30 odd games this season: 30 odd different match reporters would be ideal.

ANYONE CAN WRITE A MATCH REPORT!   We're not looking for match reports written to compete with the Sunday papers (we've all read them the day before), and we're definitely not looking for a complete, factual, accurate account for the record (that's covered by the official site). Instead, what CAW is looking for is the fans eye view - and if you didn't really understand what that first penalty was for, and you missed a bit getting back from the bar, but you DO have a passionately held view about the ridiculous sin-binning which happened right in front of where you were sitting - well: that sounds like a good match report already...

What's in it for you? (as well as supporting CAW and seeing your name in e-print) Well, for each home game - and so far for every away game as well - we have been able to get a pres pass for our reporter, so you can get into the post-match press conference, rub shoulders with the press, hear the views of the Mark Evans, and even ask a question. 

Interested?  On the fixtures page there's a column showing who has volunteered to write the match report....every blank on that list is a match crying out for a volunteer...

Match Previews

A particular volunteer is needed to write regular Match Previews. This is quite a hard job as it requires some knowledge of the opposition - or the time to do some research.

Now, you're probably thinking that KevT's boots are going to be hard to fill.... and you'd be right - but not impossible, and we'd welcome any volunteers, and any styles.  If you are up to it - or fancy having a go.. or could write every other one...... 

This is very important part of the site, and if you are at all interested please send  us an email to discuss.

Photographs

CAW is totally reliant on ourselves for pictures. We're not aiming to have an extensive picture gallery on CAW but we do need  your best action shots immediately after each game to go with the match report. If you take a good one, and can email it to us on the Sunday, it will appear on Monday.  Also any good mug shot for the squad profiles page would be handy.

All pictures will be fully credited to the photographer (unless you'd prefer not) and naturally you retain the copyright.

If you're a photo guru and would like to crop and touch up your pictures so that we can use them as-is, let us know and we'll send you details. Otherwise just send us the snaps and we'll do the rest.

Articles

If you feel the urge to write an article - on any topic - just write it and email it in. It might be an opinion piece, a player profile, an encounter with a player in Tesco, your personal observations, a report from the barbeque, whatever. If you want to make sure that no-one else is writing the same article at the same time, you can let us know in advance. 750 words is plenty long enough. Up to 2000 is manageable. 

Like to write but  stuck for an ideas?  Let us know - we generally have a long list of articles that need writing.

Regular Column

A really welcome contribution - and something that would make a real difference to CAW would be a regular column that we can rely on and plan around. It could be every week, every fortnight, or just once a month. It can take any theme you like, serious funny, analytical, gossip. What we really could do with is a rugby-oriented analytical column. What do you think of our game plan? who's on form? where are things going well?

It is a challenge to write to a deadline every week/month - but it is also very rewarding.  If you have an idea / whim to write a regular column, drop us an email to discuss ideas. 

Player Interviews

Fancy interviewing a player? From time to time we arrange with the Club to interview one of the players....

What sort of people do this?

All sorts. Any CAW regular will tell you that the range of people who have been authors, and the variety of articles that they have written is astonishing, and for us it's one of the beauties of a site like this, that we can be so varied. Last year our youngest author was 12 (I think?) and our oldest is... well a lot older!. We've even published articles by an Oran Utan. You can do this!

Send an email to prof@comeallwithin and kwin@comeallwithin saying you are interested. If it's to volunteer to do a match report. please specify which one (or if you don't mind, we'll give you the next available one). Look at the fixture list to see what's available.

Technical Details

You can submit an article in any format you like. MS Word  - or a straight email - is fine, in which case we'll do a bit of formatting for you as we put it up.

If you are a techie, and would like to use pictures, tables, links etc and control how the article looks - this is also possible: we can give you details on how.
