The Saints heartbreakingly lost in the very last second of their game tonight against Sale at a gloomy Heywood Road. Taking an early lead through a Ben Cohen try in the first minute the Saints stayed in touch as the lead changed hands several times over the next 85 minutes.

In the last minute of the game Oriol 'Raspberry' Ripol went over to tie the scores at 21-21 but the restart was fluffed and Hodgson stepped up to kick a dropgoal to add to his earlier seven penalties.
