Saints up and coming youngster Robbie Morris made a scoring debut for England A in their game on Monday against Argetina A in Beunos Aires. The young prop who has just a handful of first team starts for the Saints took this next step up in class in his stride as his remarkable career continues.
Robbie came to head to head with ex Saracen prop Roberto Grau as the more experienced Puma front row put the squeeze on the English first three.
Ageing hooker Mark Regan, currently clubless, struggled the most and there must be question marks over his selection when the likes of young Saints hooker Dan Richmond, who is seen in the same class as Steve Thompson, were left at home.
Young Morris however had the last laugh on Grau catching the Argentine defence unawares to pounce on a loose ball to score his first try for his country. It was not however enough to save the English who went down 29-24 mostly to the boot of Gonzalo Quesada.
Ex-Saint Martin Scelzo now fully recovered from the neck injury which forced him to leave the club came on for the final 25 minutes but we have no information about whether he exchanged socks with Robbie after the game.
England now prepare for Saturdays full test against Argentina and while Steve Thompson is certain to start Robbie may well have to bide his time for his next step up the representative ladder.
