Not much festive fun there, I fear! What a shocker. We have some outstanding players this year, but our lack of strength in depth in some positions was sorely exposed today,I thought. The first two thirds were truly dire. If your only attacking option is to boot the ball aimlessly into the hands of the opposition, there must be something wrong. Thank goodness Dicko and Williams introduced a bit of urgency towards the end but it was all too late by then.

Great to meet up with friends, have a few beers and a laugh, but Bedford were rubbish today, very disappointing.

I wondered at times if either side wanted to progress any further in this competition .........it seems that Bristol have already seen sense and thrown in the towel on the B&I, so why not us..............

........ the referee seemed out of his depth.......but what’s new there......the weather seemed to want to play its part and spoil the game..........

But the cherry on the cake was watching the Munster staff stand on the touch line for the whole game obstructing the spectators view......the irony being it was their own supporters view they obstructed......

Was it me but there seemed a big crowd for the game.....but the attendance of just over 2200 was given out.......or did I just imaging that bit .........in hindsight perhaps it would have been better to hope I had just imagined the whole game..........

Still top 2 points clear with Taffs away and Nottingham at home to come. Should get into the KO stage with no problems.

I thought more importantly we were not allowed to play our style of rugby by a monumental Munster defence.
I suspect they had learned their lesson from a week ago.
I was impressed with the ref not Many would have spotted the Munster chaser who had set off in front the kicker.
However he maybe should have sent More off for line out infringements, and certainly given us a penalty try near the end of the game.

I admit to my lack of knowledge of the rules and tactics of rugby its a well known fact......but I did notice something new in the line outs ....

On our throw in on at least two occasions Munster did not contest in the air but as our receiver was identified three Munster players from their lineout formed a triangle an tackled the receiver as he grounded and before the maul was formed.......is this a new tactic I cannot recall it being seeing it used before.....

Hopefully I have explained it correctly.......

Didnt spot that Compo but did wonder about not needing to kick the pen into touch when they repeatedly infringed at the line out near the end. Another new law that has passed me by ? I do question whether they were using illegal tactics in the line outs throughout the game as all our driving mauls seemed to founder , not that I'm suggesting your triangle is illegal , but the ref only picked up on it at the end ?

Having said all that they played the ref well and we weren't good enough on the day.

99% certain this is illegal. The players in the lineout can’t leave the line between the ball leaving the hooker’s hands and the catcher touching the floor. Any movement, ie leaving or joining the line, during this is a penalty offence. If they waited until our player landed and then formed the triangle they would be fine.

Mellsblue it may well be legal as my recall of the line outs were that the receiver was just landing........like most (I suppose)I was paying attention to our boys collecting the ball......my second thoughts were that the opposition did not go up to complete in the air, even go into the air............but formed a wedge and took out the receiver thus stopping the maul forming.......

We like most teams suffer by not having an answer to the rolling maul.......perhaps we should add this tactic to our tactics

If they were doing it on landing then our organisation is @#$%& poor. If it was happening repeatedly, then the on field reaction was also @#$%& poor as was the lack of instruction from the sideline. If we are being fair, winning regular ball at lineout time is a fairly new concept for us and I’m sure they’re just taking time to adapt!!!
