Blues v Caldy

A step into the unknown for Blues as Caldy come to visit for the first time. The visitors from the Wirrall are in every sense a community rugby club with volunteers doing most of the work, a wooden clubhouse, very little spectator cover and an open terrace running the length of the pitch plus tremendous views over the River Dee.

It's the tradiotional rugby club model and the way finances are going in general it's one to which  many "pro" rugby clubs may have to return.

The Caldy players have other "proper" jobs to support their families and no reciprocal links with Premiership clubs. It's going to be a shame to beat them.n Not that a victiory will be easy. They have lost both their home games so far but won 34-32 at Richmond in their only away game. 

It's Ladies Day at Goldington Road complete with the pink strip to raise funds for MacMillan Support.

Only two changes to a Bedford side which had a tremendous win at Pirates last week. Jake Garside starts at scrum half and on-loan Huw Taylor starts in the second row. He's come from Dragons to help with an early season injury crisis among the forwards.
