Championship rugby was the winner as Blues and Trailfinders produced an epic contest at Goldington Road with the league leders just shading things to win 40-31.

It was five tries to six with Dean Adamson notching his 113th try for the club as it looked like his side might take the game.

Blues did lead 12-7 in the first half courtesy of a close range effort from Luke Frost and and a try from Louis Grimoldby. However, Trailfinders came back to lead at the break with scores from Craig Hampson and Simon Uzokwe.

They went further ahead with tries from Walker and Bodilly onlly for Blues to stage a tremendous comeback to make it 31-33. Adsamson started things off and the home crown were euphoric as  Michael Le Bourgeois and Jake Garside went over.

However, Trailfidniders toughed it out and took their chance through Carlo Tizzano.
