Revitalised Lions will fight to keep run going

RUGBY LIONS will be looking to stretch their unbeaten run to four games tomorrow when Lydney make the trip from Gloucestershire to Webb Ellis Road. But while skipper Alex Nash admits the Forest of Dean side has yet to taste victory on the road this season, the players certainly won't be expecting an easy match. The Lions took the spoils at basement club Havant last week, running out 23-9

winners thanks to first half tries from Matt Goode and wing Mike Rust and 13 points from the boot of James Hawken.

But Nash knows Lydney will be a much tougher prospect even if their form away from home has hardly set National Three South alight.

"They are a point below us in the table but it is going to be a tough match," the Lions captain said.

"We are on a roll at the moment and have turned things around after drawing the Ealing game.

"The boys are really positive and, with a run of home matches coming up, we are looking to build some momentum in the run-up to Christmas."

London Scottish swept Ealing aside last weekend to maintain their 100 per cent record at the top of the table to make them clear favourites for the title. But the Lions are targeting a run towards a play-off place.

Nash, back in the back row after a sprained ankle forced him to miss the first three games of the season, added: "If we are honest then first place has probably already gone. But second to fourth are still up for grabs and that is what we are aiming for.

"We showed against Ealing what we could do and we always seem to perform against the better teams or those who are highly rated."
