RUGBY LIONS extended their unbeaten run to three games with a hard-fought victory over lowly Lydney. Lions led through Stuart Riding on nine minutes, James Hawken converting from wide-out for 7-0. Hawken missed a penalty as the game became ill-tempered with several scuffles before Hawken's penalty made it 10-0 with 25 minutes played. Hawken was allowed another three kicks at goal from
distance and although he missed one from his own half, the other two counted for 16-0 at the break.
Hawken's fourth penalty made it 19-0 on the hour.
Toby Handley's try extended the Lions' lead before Mike Ba ker replied with a Lydney try converted by Mark Davies but Lydney's late pressure proved too little too late.
