TONGAN Tevita Vaikona scored a try in time added on to sink Nuneaton in the EDF Energy National Trophy at Liberty Way. Rob Cook had put Nuneaton into a 16-15 lead late in the game following a quickly taken penalty by Huw Thomas. Rickie Aley's early penalty was matched by the Hull fly-half, who squared the game on eight minutes, and on 23 minutes a sweeping attack from the hosts set up Will

Cave to put Nuneaton back in front.

Vaikona then made his mark to put the lower-league visitors into a half-time lead, James Cameron capitalising with a conversion to make it 10-8 to Hull.

The hosts fell further behind on the hour but then rallied with an Aley penalty moments later.

Nuneaton then saw a try disallowed on 68 minutes before Cook made amends and looked to have done enough at 16-15 on 71 minutes. Nuneaton: tries Cave, Cook, penalties Aley (2).

Hull: tries Vaikona (2), Piercy, conversions Cameron (2), penalties Cameron.
