BELOW-PAR Stoke Old Boys were punished for their mistakes as Claverdon pulled off a smash and grab victory in the EDF Energy Vase. It started well for Stoke when Steve Lines, returning to the side following a lengthy injury, went over for a try to give them the lead but unfortunately for the hosts the Coventry team's knack of conceding penalties cost them as Claverdon took full advantage to

establish a clear lead.

Stoke did manage a late fight-back and scored tries through Gary Brewerton and Paul Hester but the damage had already been done for them to achieve any positive outcome.

Other result: Warwickians 2nds 7 Stoke OB 2nds 50.
