Moseley are investigating the possibility of making their first senior cup semi-final in nearly two decades a league game as well. The Billesley Common outfit were drawn at home to Exeter Chiefs in yesterday’s EDF Energy National Trophy draw, a match that will be played on March 21. But with the Red and Blacks already suffering from a fixtures pile-up, they are likely to suggest the clash
should not only determine who goes through the cup final at Twickenham in April but the destination of the league points from the match that was cancelled on January 3.
“We are planning to open discussions with Exeter on Tuesday,” said head coach Ian Smith. “If an agreement can’t be reached we’ll just have to play the league game whenever we can.” While there is not likely to be any objection from the sport’s officials the one sticking point might be finance.
