Coventry scrum-half Tom Slater is celebrates

COVENTRY scrum-half Tom Slater is celebrating his first call-up for Wales. The 22-year-old joins the World Cup-winning Welsh Sevens squad next weekend for the IRB tournaments in Hong Kong and Adelaide. “I’m surprised and also very happy,” said Slater, who hopes to be available for Cov’s game at Esher on Saturday. “I missed out earlier in the season when I was injured, and I’m just hoping I

can establish myself in the squad now.

“It’s my first honours for Wales – I missed out coming up through the age groups – so it’s fantastic to be involved.”
