Stoubridge's Adam Billig out for season

Stourbridge are without their most experienced three-quarter for the visit of Cinderford tomorrow and Neil Mitchell is not a happy chappy. Centre Adam Billig fractured his scapula playing for England Counties against their French equivalents last Sunday and while director of rugby Mitchell is ambivalent about the concept of representative rugby, he is far more clear on the quality of the

‘after-care’ package. Billig will play no further part in the current campaign and with his team still to guarantee their place in National Two, the sore is red raw for Mitchell.

“We allowed him to go in good faith and there has not even been a phone call or an email from anyone at England Counties thanking us or telling us about the injury,” he said.

“There are four or five teams who could go down this year and while we should be OK there was a time when we looked as though we might get dragged into it.

“Had that been the case and Adam had picked up this injury it would have been seriously debilitating for us. Representative rugby should be kept until the end of the season.”
