Nuneaton aware of dangers of complacency, says Mike Umaga

THE most dangerous opponent Nuneaton will face for the remainder of the season could be complacency as they bid to strengthen their grip at the top of National Three North. The Liberty Way side are five points clear of Caldy at the top of the table with two games in hand, and they entertain Huddersfield on Saturday looking to extend their comfort zone. However, head coach Mike Umaga doesn’t

feel they will take their foot off the gas.

“These players want to achieve something special and are fully focused on the task in hand,” he said.

“I don’t think we will have any problems with complacency.”

One problem Umaga may face is keeping hold of some of his young stars for next season.

Their performances will not have gone unnoticed by bigger clubs and Umaga is aware he may face a battle to keep them.

“We are realistic about where the club sits financially and some clubs will be looking at our players,” he said.

“If some of them decide to go then hopefully we will be able to replace them with players of equal quality.”

Umaga has several injury concerns and had to shuffle his pack during the victory over Preston Grasshoppers last week.

Rob Cook was used at full-back, while scrum-half Huw Thomas moved to fly-half and Lucas Roy-Smith slotted in at No.9 with aplomb.
