BROADSTREET’S first National League fixture in six years ended with a win as they came from behind to dispose of Bradford & Bingley at the Ivor Preece Fields. Winger Marcus Dracup put the Bees ahead with only two minutes gone when he went over in the corner, before Danny Richards replied through a penalty for the Street. But Phil Greaves scored a second try for the visitors quickly after,

before the hosts found their feet at last.

Debutant Greg Summers scored from a wonderful 75 metre breakaway, and the same man grabbed his second midway through the first period when he went over from a metre out.

The Bees notched a penalty on the stroke of half-time, as the hosts went in 16-15 ahead.

Wayne Lester then rounded off a fine team move to give Broadstreet a little more comfort, before Summers completed his hat-trick, and Nigel Mukarati finished the scoring.

“We’re delighted with both the win and the performance,” stated club spokesman Stuart Hall. “We had a shaky first ten minutes in which we looked like rabbits in the headlights, but once we had settled down, we were fine and gradually improved in front of a large crowd.”
