Rugby Lions 35 Hull 3

RUGBY LIONS conjured up a wonderful performance to blitz an imposing Hull 35-3 at the Webb Ellis Stadium. The Lions scorched ahead early on through Lloyd Warner’s deadly right boot, before Hull’s James Cameron responded with a penalty of his own to tie the scores with twelve minutes gone. But Cameron’s strike did little to perturb Rugby who inched ahead once more when Andy Weaver

bagged a try, before they extended their lead when Tom Harris rounded-off a free-flowing passing move from off the top of a line-out.

Warner converted Harris’ try to make it 15-3.

And the Lions roared further ahead when Jack Green’s incisive drop-goal was supplemented by Jeff Gregson’s interception try to leave Lions 25-3 up at the interval.

A clever chip-and-chase from the Warner shortly after the re-start added a further five points to the Rugby tally, before Hull’s Dan Cook was sent off following numerous scuffles as Hull’s frustrations mounted.

And Joss Andrews completed a good afternoon for Rugby when he bagged the final try.
