Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce a further 3 signings making 13 so far advised for the forthcoming ND1 season. John Pateman- prop Matt Price- hooker Andrew Weaver- 2nd row All 3 players have been signed from Rugby Lions and have had impressive County games and are looking to build on this success.

They have all worked under Coventry's new backs coach Peter Glackin at Rugby Lions and Warwickshire , and Peter is proud of them all , and feels that this is now the time they can move up a level from their County performances.

John Pateman originally played for Earlsdon and he and Andrew Weaver are looking to build on their Club and County performances. Matt Price has had a spell with Bedford Blues , is a good scrummager and is looking forward to meeting this new challenge.

Looks like the plan is to stay in ND1 for a couple of seasons

I'd say they are assembling a squad commensurate with the available budget - which is (IMHO) a refreshing change.
Time to rebuild the club from the bottom up, instead of trying to build from the top down.

sounds like pete glacken's experience of coaching warks is being used to identify players - let's hope he's a good judge of potential!

why so negative pheasantplucker ?

They're finally doing what we've been saying for 3 years, get in local players and players who have a vested interest in taking the club forward.

Staying in div 1 while we sort out the club cant be a bad thing, but to go for broke and try and get back up immediately would be stupid.

Who knows....these lads could suprise us all.

Not sure about relations with local clubs if others will also have their players snapped up by Cov, Barkers, Old Covs etc for second team etc.

Will there be relationship where players can be loaned out to local clubs, I wonder.
