Some more Biog on Jeff Gregson:
Coventry Schools, Warwickshire U18, Midlands U18, Midlands U20 Combined Midlands/London SE U20.
Hartpury College where Jeff did his degree happens to be the base for Gloucester Academy and also where the the first XV train as well. Hartpury is a rugby production line with the first and second teams being the BUSA League winners. The first and second teams are coached by the Gloucester Academy coaches.
Jeff spent his formative years at 13 before switching to wing and played 15 with the Midlands U20. He has also just played in the National 7's series, which as all you rugby afficionado's will know is a formidably competitive rugby series to participate in. By Jeff's own admission in 7's at this level any weakness or mistake is soon exposed, but as a confidence developer for decision making, skills, and reliance and trust in team mates it has no equal. Suffice to say at that level you have to have "Pace to Burn" as a back.
I only posted this as many posters are wondering about the CV's of some of the players that have been signed. In Jeff's case I can give you an insight. How do I Know all of this about Jeff? Well I'll let you figure it out but i do have the same surname!(Sm13). there lots of other things as well that are in his CV but time and space prevent me listing, it would become a lengthy tome!! One thing I would like to say about all of these young men, having first hand experence shall we say, is the effort that they will ALL be putting into training and fitness levels will be second to none. As I said I know what is going i see it every day, and I have no doubt that they are all the same. We all need to get behind them,There are some outstanding players in the team already and many of them are quite capable of standing up in the championship, and that includes many of the new squad members make no mistake. I for one cant wait for the season to begin....regards....Runout

Thanks John.

I certainly back up what you've said about Jeff. He started his school rugby as a lock, as he was a monster boy at the age of 12/13. He switched into the backs and then progressed through the district and county schools system.

He is potentially a very exciting player, he is a finisher and has great 'gas'. The step up will be tough for Jeff, as it will for the other young, local players. As supporters we have to support these players - it will be tough to start with, but they will deliver the 'local' commitment we have been asking for - we need to support that.

I am also looking forward to the new season. With all these local lads playing we should have a very vocal crowd (16th man) which can only help.

Sounds like we have some exciting backs lets hope the coaches this year can get them to gel and work together.

Saw on the BBC that Drew locke has been banned from the 7's final for lifting?

No, the nemesis for me was at Caludon Castle, the great Nev Reynolds, or Geoff Bennett. GReat men who encouraged many a boy over the years to better behaviour!
