YOUTH AND EXPERIENCE BOOST COVENTRY

Coventry Rugby squad continues to take shape with a further 4 signings combining a mixture of youth and experience to take the new squad numbers up to 23. Martin Kent- Prop- Macclesfield Jon Lowdon - Fullback- Macclesfield Elliott Read - Flyhalf No10 Moseley Heath Stevens - Centre- Wasps Academy

Martin Kent aged 28 , an experienced prop forward who was an everpresent in last seasons Macclesfield title winning side and playoff victors at Twickenham. With Macclesfield's promotion  Coventry will be meeting them this season to add spice to the contest. Martin had previous spells at Derby, Longton and Manchester before being at Macclesfield. A resident of Derby, Martin is very much looking forward to the season to meet the challenges both on a personal and club level. He confirmed that training was hard with a different emphasis on personal development and high skill content required.

Jon Lowdon, aged 26, a teacher from Lincoln, also joins from Macclesfield. where he was a fullback but could play at centre and flyhalf, as well as goal kick. An elegant silky runner he had a disrupted last season  with a serious knee injury, after playing all games the previous one, but was able to turn out in the playoff win at Twickenham. Now back to full fitness he was recommended to the club by Kurt Johnson. Jon is an experienced campaigner at this level having previously been at Sale Sharks Academy, Natal Sharks Academy, followed by spells at Manchester, Sedgley Park and locally at Nuneaton .His desire is to
play every game for Coventry.

Elliott Read, aged 20 is a flyhalf joining from Moseley. Born in Swindon, Elliott played for Bristol Academy for 2 years before going to Moseley. Elliott played in Moseley's cup games before injury cut short his chances. Another long distance goal kicker, but has a good all round game which gives Coventry further options. Elliott feels that Coventry can give him more game time and experience. In a Coventry side which is effectively a new one,  he feels that the team has bonded well together and is very much looking forward to the season.

Heath Stevens, aged 17 is a centre from Wasps Academy, previously played for Old Northamptonians he was noticed by Wasps after a trial. Heath is a hard running centre, with a high workrate and  tackle count. He feels that Coventry can offer  him a great opportunity to progress his career and that of Coventry.
