CAMBRIDGE- COVENTRY PREVIEW.

This Saturday at West Renault Park, kick off 3pm, sees Coventry away to Cambridge in the battle of the 2 highest scoring sides in NL1. Cambridge are at present 4th in the table on 13 points, whilst Coventry are on 10 points in 6th place. Last season saw Cambridge finish a very creditable 4th in the league, and although this season has seen a retrenchment,
under Director of Rugby, Bob Crooks, Cambridge have gone for a largely youthful side with a sprinkling of experienced players, such as ex Coventry players, Stewart Pearl as hooker, and Rob Hurrell as lock.
Cambridge play a mainly fast expansive game, not too dissimilar to that of Coventry, as shown by their respective points tally. Despite losing winger Hendre Schmidt to Bedford, and Kyle-Tonelli to Sale,Cambridge have recruited well with speedy winger Jaco Du Toit (Westcombe Park), rising star fullback Billy Robinson (Sale Academy), centre James Knight (Bedford), and 18 year old West Country starlet Dan Mugford as flyhalf and goalkicker.
Cambridge started the season with a heavy away win at Sedgley Park, and 60-12 home win over Cinderford. However a surprise loss away to Barking dented their 100% record, and last week , thanks to a last minute try by Stewart Pearl , they salvaged an away draw with Macclesfield. With Cambridge needing to get back to winning ways, and Coventry still looking for their first away win of the season, another points bonanza is on the table, although it is expected the final result will be close.
Coventry will be further buoyed by their excellent win and performance for the whole 80mins against Cinderford and another exciting contest is expected. The Coventry team will be released after training on Thursday.
