COVENTRY RUGBY NETS ANDY MURRAY

Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce  that  scrum half  or wing Andrew (Andy) Murray, has signed from Nuneaton RFC. This appointment continues Coventry Rugby policy of finding and developing new rugby talent especially from the U20s both nationally and locally.

 

Andy , aged 19, a member of the Midlands and England Counties U 20’s squad, played last season ,initially for Nuneaton Colts, and then stepped up to the senior side making 16 appearances scoring 9 tries from the wing. From the age of 4 he played at scrum half , and is a fast and agile and scrum half , but  also settled in well as wing last season.

Born in Bromley, Kent, he was going to join Blackheath but as a job came up locally he was able to join Nuneaton, and now wishes to step up his rugby career with Coventry. Andy is another promising youngster who has shown faith in Coventry Rugby .

Good to see another Nuneaton lad make the step up. Definaty a winger though.

The average age of the squad goes down yet again. It's incredible when you look back a few years to see just how many, ahem, mature players we had. There's certainly been a major shift now. Nice to see the club looking forward once again.
Now we just need to get that Academy properly set up and functioning to keep the conveyor going.
