Fair play to young Charlie Mumford. Another one off the Barkers Butts/Woodlands production line

Or The Woodlands production line, depending upon your viewpoint....

Let's celebrate the input from both organsations, eh?

But, as you say - well done Charlie.

Surely the real joke centres around those 'supporters' who will right off a player at the start of a season before a league matched has been played? Especially someone who has, I think, captained the club in the past, shown great loyalty in very difficult circumstances, who seldom has a poor game and is always solid, if not a match winner. Am delighted Ben has been sponsored by the supporters and I, for one, respect his dedication to the club and his past performances. I don't think such attacks on individuals at this stage in the season is particularly helpful to either the player concerned or the team. Good luck to the team and to Ben particularly.

Totally agree, Mark, to dismiss his selection as a 'joke' seems to me to be a little unfair given both the record of the player and the fact that it is the first game of the season with a very different set of backs. Not sure such support helps anyone, that's all.

when i think of long serving players for coventry ,his name does not automatically pop into mind as a stalwart of the club and a name to go down on the team sheet first. GOOD LUCK TO COV THIS SEASON......DEFENCE DEFENCE DEFENCE

lets suppor tthe team, russel is an experienced player who rarely lets the team down. personally i would have prefered to see my myring at 10 & stevens in the centre. slight concern ove rthe lack of bulk in the back row as well. they are all useful players & mobile but no real grunt! whats happened to tibbats, i thought he made an impact when he came on last year?
also havent see walls at the pre season games?

I wondered what had happened to Mike. I'd just like to say thanks to him for his loyalty over the last few years, alongside other such stalwarts as Ben Russell and Sam Herrington amongst others on and off the pitch. Without their support during the very dark days I shudder to think of what may have become of the club.

Anyone know where Lee Parry is these days?

Best wishes to all today.
