Dave Addleton: Coventry need to consistency.

FORWARDS coach Dave Addleton conceded that Coventry should have been more ruthless in pressing home their early advantage after surviving a strong finish by Stourbridge to secure a 22-17 win at the Butts Park Arena.

 

Cov were 17-0 up inside the first quarter but instead of building on their lead they allowed the visitors back into the game before half-time and ended up in a second-half dogfight.

“We gave them a glimmer of hope when we really needed to put the game away,” said Addleton. “We should have had more in the first half with the wind behind us.

“We are starting well at the moment and we know that when we stick to what we do best, it works, but we have to do it over a whole game and not in 20-minute bursts.

Whatever the title means - I definitely agree.

Shame on CT - poor subediting is not a good reflection on what's going on there.

Maybe the editor missed out "show more" or "play with greater" or a million other permutations.

Sadly, only they know the truth.

Dave, to presuppose the need for more "consistency" there has to have been consistency during the games,but has there ?

The boys need to do the right things ad nausium, tackling,line out plays, ball retention in the rucks and mauls, quick ball to the backs from the base of the scrum and intelligent kicking.

These are all "drills" to be worked on in training by the coaches and players.

C'mon Cov !!!

No matter what you try to do on the field of play,Their are XV others doing there level best to stop you achieving your aims. Sometimes it seems like sixteen ! Sorry to all the "REFS" reading this. Many words have been written or spoken about this. But two wins out of three is not bad. So let us give the lads a little more time.
