J Miller's colum: Hard work, points and a cabbage addiction.

WEEK four and another four points, albeit a tricky start. I think it was a performance to be proud of. It’s not easy to overcome an early setback of 12 points as we did at Sedgley last weekend and it shows again the squad’s incredible work ethic and dogged determination not to give in.
This was matched in no small measure by the loyal supporters who by all accounts had a challenging journey up to watch us. It was heartening to the team.
I’m sure by now all those interested have read the match report so I thought I would take this opportunity to take a slightly more light-hearted approach and perhaps give you a little glimpse inside the Coventry Rugby Club family and some of its members.
Plenty of player profiles are written and I think it’s fair to say you know a fair bit about the players but I feel you should know more about the background of the management and this week I would like to start with a look into the life of David Addleton, forwards’ coach and Coventry Rugby legend.
Now some of you may think you know David quite well but if we take a deeper look you will be quite surprised. Born and raised in North Yorkshire, David lived a simple life and at the tender age of six was sent out to work in the fields as a turnip picker.
After years of hard graft, David’s family fulfilled a lifelong dream and relocated to Coventry to open a greengrocer’s shop.
David couldn’t have been happier, working and living in the shop was a dream come true. But that dream turned into a nightmare for David when after spending a whole month inside the shop without leaving he became addicted to his favourite vegetable, cabbage, and found it impossible to eat anything else.
