Pete Glackin welcomes Gregson and Harris back to fitness,

PETE Glackin has welcomed the return of wing twins Jeff Gregson and Tom Harris into the Coventry squad.

The Butts Park backs coach says the impending availability of last year’s potent wide men will only increase his options behind the scrum.

Gregson made his first appearance of the season in last weekend’s injury-time defeat to Cambridge after finally recovering from injury.

The former Rugby Lions man spent virtually all of his ten-minute cameo in defence but the mere sight of him on a pitch has cheered Glackin.

And now Harris has had the protective boot taken off his toe, he too should be back in contention in the next few weeks.

That leaves Glackin with youngsters Andy Murray and Heath Stevens, back-ups Mark O’Connor and Jonty Hallett as well as Gregson and soon Harris from which to choose.

“It is nice to have those boys back in. It gives us more competition for place and more ammunition in our strike play,” he said.

“It was good to see Jeff back on Saturday, although I don’t think he got much ball in those last few minutes.

“And Tom is not far away, some time in early November will be when we start to see him in the mix.

“Competition for places in the backs is already really, really tight and it’s only going to be more so with those two back in.”

Gregson could start this weekend although Cov are thinking of including him in the Nighthawks side that faces Oxford University at Butts Park on Saturday.

Good to see the boys on the road back to recovery and starting a game.
