Up and Under: Luke Myring's Coventry RFC column.

THE weekend was one of remembrance. People see sportspeople and celebrities as their heroes but the truth is the real heroes are fighting for all of us out in Afghanistan and are the men and women who have fought for and died for our country along the way.

Rightly, we honoured these real heroes with a minute’s silence pre-match on Saturday before stepping into what should have been a bloody battle of our own between local rivals of old.

The truth was though that Birmingham and Solihull came to the battlefield but failed to bring any weapons or ammunition.

They had their fair share of possession but failed to wound us in any way shape or form.

At no point in the match did they engage us and really have a go and so from the stand it was always a case of not if we win but by how many.

In the end we were delighted to finish the match with a 29-13 win and a bonus point too.

It was a good performance by us, I thought that our ever-improving defence was fantastic and that our forwards, again, were outstanding throughout.
