The tireless back rower turned in a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday’s 29-26 victory, a result that lifts the Blue and Whites up to fifth in the table and cut the Londoners’ advantage over them to 11 points.

There is still a long way to go and Fylde, Jersey and Rosslyn Park will also fancy their chances of challenging for a place in the Championship from more advanced positions than Coventry.

However, with the division’s biggest crowd of the day watching the hosts come from behind to beat Trailfinders with a last-minute try, there is a definite feel-good factor at Butts Park.

And Nash makes no secret of the fact Phil Maynard’s players want to ride the crest of that wave as far as they can.

“A result like that shows that even if we didn’t know already anyone can beat anyone in this league and the promotion spot is there for anyone who wants to grab it,” he said.

“We are certainly one of maybe six teams that can do that but it is going to be very tight.

“We have to play to our strengths and I don’t think that there are many packs that can compete with us at scrum time and in terms of directness of play.

“We can really draw defences in that way and give the ball to the backs with the room to use it.”

They will have to do that – and probably more – against Jersey this weekend after the islanders went to Macclesfield and won last time out.

Indeed, Ben Harvey’s men appear to have recovered from an early-season wobble and are many people’s favourites to turn their current fourth position into first by the end of the campaign.

But Nash is not intimidated by Jersey’s run of eight straight wins since they lost at Cinderford on October 1 and says Cov can go their in expectation as much as hope.
