This Saturday 11th February sees Coventry Rugby take on Tynedale, at home at the Butts Park Arena kick off 2pm. Please note change of kick of time to accommodate fans being able to watch the England match after the game.
Tynedale founded in 1876, finished a creditable 5th place in National League 1 last season and are currently in 7th place, on 58 points but with the same number of wins as Coventry with 10, but 9 points ahead of Coventry who are 10th on 49 points. Under coaches Tom Borthwick and Ian Peel, Tynedale have at times flattered to deceive with an excellent double over Macclesfield, and an away win at Rosslyn Park, together with large home wins over Birmingham Solihull and Sedgley Park, together with narrow losses to Ealing and Blackheath.
Coventry went up north earlier in the season and won 32-29, a score somewhat flattering to Tynedale, as they scored two injury time tries. Tynedale have a working relationship with Premiership side Newcastle Falcons and have a number of dual registered players, including lock Richard Boyle and No 10 Joel Hodgson. Brothers Grant and Gavin Beasley and James and Andrew Murray are other players to note, as is lock or No 8 Myles Scott who played so well against Coventry in October.
With Coventry needing to get a win to start climbing the table, another exciting and close game is expected on Saturday at the Butts Park Arena.
