Addleton welcomes returns to form but calls for repeat...

COVENTRY coach Dave Addleton has warned that last weekend’s sudden return to form must be regarded as nothing more than a start. The forwards specialist is pleased with the way his men responded to criticism after their hammering at Macclesfield, with renewed efforts at Blaydon.

Coventry managed to hold the North East outfit to a 17-17 draw at Crow Trees – and could even argue they deserved the victory – with a much-improved display from the week before.

However, Addleton knows the Blue and Whites must turn in a repeat performance at Rosslyn Park this weekend against a side that is fifth in National One.

Indeed Addleton recalls just how formidable the Londoners can be after they came back from the dead when the sides met at Butts Park in October to nearly steal a win.

In the end Cov held on for a nerve-jangling 30-29 success but Addleton has cited that match as an example of what can happen when his team doesn’t focus fully.

“They are flying at the minute and we know they are going to be coming at us,” he warned.

“We were 23 points up just after half time and there was no threat, then we took our foot off the pedal and they scored 29 points against us in the second half.
