Capt Matt Tibbatts welcomes his team's improved performance.

And for the second time in two matches the Blue and Whites had their skipper to thank as Tibbatts repeated his game-saving heroics at Blaydon with an even later try in the 19-19 tie at Rosslyn Park.

There had already been two minutes of added time when Tibbatts finished off good work by the visiting scrum to give Khrist Kopetzky the chance to level. The Frenchman did just that to complete a 14-point comeback.

And Tibbatts sees that as a sign that the problems of the last couple of months, which saw Cov win just once in seven matches, have finally been rectified – even though Cov are now just one place above the National One relegation zone.

“The week before Blaydon in training there was a massive change in mood in the squad. We knew we had let ourselves down the previous weekend at Macclesfield, everyone was fully aware of that,” the 23-year-old said.

“We have started to try to turn that around and make amends and I think we have done that in the last couple of weeks.

“We don’t really look at the league that much. We just look to the next game and if we can get back to winning ways and finish off the season playing like we know we can, then we should be OK.

“That middle area of the table is very congested, we have got a lot of hard games coming up, we have not got an easy run in but we will build into Fylde this weekend, do our analysis, work hard and go from there.”
