Steve Johns looking forward to new challenge with CRFC...

NEW Coventry signing Steve Johns is hoping to be free to make his debut in this weekend’s National One clash with Loughborough Students.The 24-year-old signed last week after playing the last two seasons in the Championship with Plymouth Albion.But he was unable to appear in Saturday’s restorative 37-5 victory over Cambridge, Cov’s first of the season, because his registration had not been finalised.However, he hopes the paperwork will have gone through in the next few days and that he can break his way into Phil Maynard’s side.
“I would love to be able to play,” Johns said. “I trained with Coventry for a couple of sessions in July, I was in talks with a couple of clubs over the summer but I was delighted to sign with Coventry because I want to play at the highest level I possibly can.
“I have just got a teaching job in the area and playing part-time with Coventry suits having a full time job. I can’t wait to get started now.”
Johns, who has just begun his role as a PE teacher at Tudor Grange School in Solihull, nearly 40 appearances at centre or wing during his studies in Plymouth.
