Dave Addleton calls on Coventry RFC to continue being bold.

DAVE Addleton believes the decisive factor behind Coventry’s narrow win over Blackheath was the courage they showed in their conviction to be more attacking.

In recent weeks Cov have built up leads but then kicked away a lot of possession and found themselves on the wrong end of late scores. which have robbed them of victories over Richmond and Fylde.

However, on Sunday it was Addleton’s men who bagged a try three minutes from the end to nick a 13-10 win and leap-frog The Club into sixth place in the National One table.

Cov trailed 10-6 going into the closing stages but a spell of sustained pressure eventually created space for winger Heath Stevens to score his fourth of the season.

It was the perfect antidote to the recent tribulations: “The attacking mindset made the difference,” Addleton said. “We talked to the players about playing more with the ball in hand and keeping it for longer periods and they bought into that.

“We did miss a few opportunities but we kept playing and in the end we worked Heath into the corner which was a testament to that attitude. We moved the ball well and got into positions where we were only a pass away from scoring on three or four occasions.
