Coventry RFC & Henley College Development Squad achieved their best performance so far to date with an outstanding defeat against highly established Bishop Burton Academy. In a physical encounter Bishop started the game strong camped in C&H half and recorded the first points on the board with a well taken penalty.
C&H responded through full back Scott Truslove for the second game running scoring in the left hand corner after excellent work from the home forwards securing a well worked lineout and drive.
C&H forwards started to take control of the contact area with back row forwards Callum Lines, Michael Ryan and Joe Richardson prominent going forward.
The second half started strong for the home side with impressive flyhalf Tyler Price slicing through the defence for an excellent score which he also converted taking the score to 12 - 3. This was followed by a home side sin binning for Tawanda Chipadza after a dangerous tackle reducing the home side to 14 men.
Bishop responded by scoring against the run of play taking the score to 12 – 8 with all to play for leading in to the last quarter of the game. A further sin binning for the home side with Ryan committing a shoulder charge created more pressure however some excellent handling put centre Jack Howland through to score with Price converting.
Bishop again responded only for some outstanding defence work through centre Luke Barber, winger Troi Coleman and Truslove preventing any further scores along with an outstanding scrum performance from the forwards.
Superbly led by Captain Josh McNulty in an outstanding team performance the home side recorded an excellent win to continue their unbeaten record.
