COVENTRY’S Jack of all trades Jack Green claims he doesn’t mind where he plays – as long as he’s in the team.

The former Rugby Lions player made his first appearance of the season on Saturday as Cov bounced back to winning ways with a 27-11 victory over Wharfedale.

Green gave a very solid display from full-back in a side that had seven changes from the defeat at Esher and like the half-dozen others he was clearly keen to make an impression having been handed his opportunity.

All the more commendable was the fact his strong showing came in an unfamiliar position, just the latest he has filled since arriving at Butts Park a couple of years ago.

Versatile Green has played fly half, inside centre, outside centre and now full-back during that time and while he would like to settle into one position, he insists he’s just happy to be on the field.

“I have been injured and chances have been limited,” Green admitted. “We have got a decent backline and we must have five or six who don’t get in each week. It’s a competitive backline but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I was happy to get my chance, put in a decent performance and hopefully I can keep the shirt for a little bit. Is full back my position of choice? I think it is this year, it keeps changing year by year. First year 12, second year 13, this year 15.

“But I am not bothered I will play second row if they ask me. It’s about trying to stay in the side and establish myself in one position.

“It’s hard to really put a marker down when you are playing different positions but hopefully I can do that and stay injury free.

“I honestly don’t care where as long as I am playing well and the coaches are happy with me and I will just keep on going.”
