Coventry Rugby are pleased to confirm their 10th new signing for the coming season with Lithuanian prop forward Ingas Darkintis signing for them.
Ingas, aged 24 was born in Lithuania and became a member of the Lithuanian World Cup side from 2008. He was a member of the team that won the European Nations Cup 2008/10 Third Division, and is currently playing for Lithuania in the preliminary round of the RWC.
He moved to Sweden in 2009 to improve his standard of rugby and in season 2010/11 joined London Division 1 side Thanet Wanderers. The next season saw him recruited by Birmingham Solihull as they fought to avoid relegation. Despite scoring an excellent try against Coventry it was not enough to save them and last season Ingas moved to Spain to play for AMPO Ordizia RE in their top league Division de Honor.
Able to play either side of the scrum and indeed hooker, Ingas is a hard, fast but mobile prop forward and looks forward to the challenge of playing for Coventry Rugby as they put up a squad to challenge for higher things. Ingas coupled with new signing Tim Ryan provides Coventry Rugby with the required experience to assist the other young front row forwards Coventry have recruited.
Coventry Rugby would also like to take this opportunity to thank Nico Steenkamp, who rejoins Bedford Blues and Rob Dugard for their past services to the club and wish them every success in the future.

Iggy looked very good in both games against Cov a couple of seasons ago. Strong in the scrum he also looked a handful on the charge in the loose. He played tight-head in both games but switched to hooker in the game at Bees when they had a 2nd half injury.
Agree with bigm - with Bronson going as well as Davy - that's a full front row gone. We know very little about the condition and ability of the 2 new props and I would have thought that a player of Nico's experience might have been a help.
I can't say I am that surprised by a change in the front row as last season I thought our front row was a big disappointmen. There were not many games where our front row were dominant over their opposition.
At the start of the season I had high hopes with the personnel but sadly it never transpired.
You know what you get with Matt Price and Bronson Ross was good around the field. Steenkamp seemed to get better as the season went on.
Perhaps the new coach has highlighted that as a weakness and looked for new players. Would like to see Adam Parkins back!
