Coventry Rugby are delighted to announce that they have signed loosehead prop forward Andy Brown from Doncaster Knights, their 11th new signing of the coming season.
Andy, aged 24 was born in Derby and was a member of the Leicester Tigers Academy. He then played for the then Championship side Doncaster Knights for three seasons, although serious injury somewhat curtailed his appearances. Last season although fully fit he did not get his chances at Doncaster and late on in the season actually played for Coventry Rugby on loan, making 3 appearances in total including 1 start. Recalled by Doncaster as they fought to stave off relegation Andy then played for them putting up some excellent performances.
Andy decided to move away from a fulltime rugby career and a new position took him initially away from the Midlands. Coventry’s Rugby Director Phil Maynard was always impressed with the performances of Andy whilst at Coventry and kept in touch. He was delighted to hear that from the 1st August Andy will be back in the locality and both parties soon agreed a deal that brings Andy back to the Butts Park Arena.
A dominate player in the scrum as well as noticeable in the loose Andy brings an added measure of experience to Coventry’s front row complementing the existing prop forwards already signed.
