Influential cross keys flanker snapped up by Coventry Rugby.

Coventry Rugby are pleased to confirm that openside flanker Robert Nash has been signed from Welsh Premiership side Cross Keys.  Aged 27, Robert has been somewhat of a thorn in Coventry Rugby’s side when playing for Cross Keys against them in the last two years pre-season games. 

Rob Nash has been carefully monitored for some time by Coventry Rugby and he so impressed Coventry in the pre-season game that they acted quickly to obtain his signature with the approval of Cross Keys. Coventry Rugby’s Head Coach Scott Morgan has been keen to recruit Rob for some time and the two year contract awarded Scott believes, will give Coventry Rugby an important and influential new recruit for their future ambitious plans.

Robert Nash joined Cross Keys in 2008 after a spell at Pontypool and his last five years has seen him appointed captain, he has made 105 appearances there including being Captain of the victorious Cross Keys team in the Swalec Cup Final in 2012.

Rob is very much looking forward to meeting this new challenge as it his first taste of English League rugby, but he feels he can offer the Coventry Rugby team and its supporters something different.

A tenacious, dogged player, as Coventry indeed have found to their cost in the last two seasons, Robert appears the ideal candidate with his record of being captain and brings even more steel and experience to an already impressive Coventry back row.

My first reaction when told that we had signed an openside called Nash was "is he back in the country then?".

If Robert can do what Nasher used to do for us, we are quids-in. I just hope the refs don't interfere (Sm14)

Squad looking promising, really have to have a must win, never say die attitude this season and as Jersey "carrot top" poster says,

"Dont kick the ball, pick it up and move forward".

Have to agree with that sentiment, because tennis style "rallying" drives me potty. Just gives the ball away allowing the opposition to run it back and hurt us, and if we've got the ball in hand, they cant.

You have signed a quality player who I am looking forward to seeing in Jersey on tomorrow. He previously played with Tom Brown the new Jersey No8 who rates him a "real handfull". Should be a good competitive game.(Sm51)

We do have a habit of unearthing very good backrowers don't we? (And losing them!).
I wonder how many realise that Tom is also a full Wales RL international, gaining his cap while at Cov?
