Will Hurrell still wants to take centre stage for Cov.

Leading scorer Will Hurrell insists he has no designs on the National One try-scoring crown even after moving to second place on the list.

The Coventry winger bagged a brace in Saturday’s restorative 24-10 victory over Old Albanian and has now scored seven times in just six games.

Only Loughborough Students’ former Moseley and Bees wing Jack Pons has more – with nine – as Hurrell has made an excellent start to his second stint in Blue and White following his summer move from Stourbridge.

But while he is happy to have found such a rich vein of form, he claims he is more motivated by team success than personal accolades.

“It’s always nice to get tries and I did say when I moved to Coventry I wanted to play centre because you are always a bit worried about whether you’ll see the ball on the wing,” he admitted.

“But our centres have got good hands and luckily I am getting enough ball to make an impact.

“I don’t have a try target in mind, I just want to go out and play well and if I happen to pick up a couple then I’ll be happy.

“But, I know it’s a cliché, it’s all about the team and things go unnoticed to give me an easy job of scoring in the corner.
