Another Welsh rugby star for ambitious Coventry Rugby.

Coventry Rugby are pleased to announce the exciting new signing of the former Dragons, Gloucester Rugby and Welsh 7’s star full-back Martyn Thomas from French side Massy.
Martyn aged 27 was born in Carmarthen played for the Welsh regional sides Scarlets and then to Newport Gwent Dragons where he played 80 games for them over four seasons. He moved to Gloucester Premiership side for 2 seasons from 2012 playing 53 games for them. The start of this season saw Martyn cross the Channel to play for newly promoted ProD 2 side Massy.
A vastly experienced player, not only has he played for the Welsh International 7’s team but whilst at Gloucester Premiership also played in the European Challenge Cup. Wanting to return back to this country he knew Scott Morgan from their time together at the Dragons and jumped at the chance to join up again with Scott and help Coventry Rugby achieve their ambitious plans, and provides that additional experience to the Coventry Rugby ‘s back division.

impressive signing. I assume he is available immediately, as his french contract was just for 4 months. Also, would this just be a short-term contract for the rest of the season? He's still young enough to be harbouring ambitions of a return to the top-flight.

Great signing but it will leave some interesting selections meetings...who would be the first choice full back? Cliffie or Martyn Thomas?

You can't keep everyone happy - only 22 players each week get on the coach.
Equally you can't survive on a squad of 22. About 20% will be unavailable any week, and as we've seen this season it doesn't distribute evenly or predictably.
Barry Davies announced last season that this season would be his last. We've needed him at times thus season, and I wouldn't want to see his replacement , whoever that is, being a lower standard of player.

Then you haven't read it Peter, it makes no comment on how good a player Martyn is.
