South African centre Mark Hodgkiss arrives from Cape Town on Friday to bolster Coventry’s end-of-season charge as they attempt to extend their unbeaten run in National League One to 19 games at Esher on Saturday.
The midfielder was part of the Western Province Currie Cup squad while playing for Stellenbosch University’s UCT Maties side in the Varsity Cup series for the last two years and will be at Cov for the rest of this season with the club holding an option to extend his stay for a further year.
“We are looking to improve all the time and also looking ahead to next season a little bit,” said Cov’s rugby director Phil Maynard.
“We have injuries in the current squad and are a little bit thin in the centre, so Mark will give us added cover and hopefully he will settle in quickly. He was recommended to us by a long-standing contact and we look forward to welcoming him to Coventry.”
