Ealing Trailfinders 24 Coventry RFC 18:

A converted try two minutes from the end of normal time denied Coventry a double over National League One leaders Ealing Trailfinders in a heroic performance at Vallis Way.

Trailing 17-8 at the break, Cov battled back to lead 18-17 after 65 minutes only to be denied right at the death in a game which saw them twice go down to 13 men as injuries decimated their ranks.

Props Andy Brown, Adam Parkins and Chad Thorne all went off, forcing uncontested scrums in the final quarter, along with Sam Pailor, Mark Hodgkiss and Dom Lespierre.

Cov put the first points on the board after three minutes, Matt Jones kicking a 43-metre penalty, but Ealing had the better of the early exchanges and after a try-saving tackle by Dan Rundle on Phil Chesters, the home side broke through on 11 minutes when their forwards drove over from a line-out for Arthur Ellis to claim an unconverted try.

Ellis grabbed his second try in similar fashion after 20 minutes with Cov's Matt Price in the sin bin, but Cov survived without further damage before the hooker returned and stunned their hosts when Rundle broke out and sparked a move which was finished off by Will Hurrell in the left corner.to close the gap to two points.
