Glaws pay injury price for great Heineken win

What a trip that was, what a result for Gloucester – and what a price they could have to pay for it. Olly Morgan, Chris Paterson and Mike Tindal all picked up injuries in the bonus-point 31-7 Heineken Cup win at Bourgoin, and with the return at Kingsholm looming next Friday, the outlook isn’t as bright as it should be after such a good result.

Glaws would probably have been happy with a win of any kind in a tough match, but to win so well is a bonus.
Pity about the injuries.
Morgan has a shoulder injury which is described as serious, Paterson is the latest Glaws player to pick up a rib injury, while Tindall took a nasty knock on the shin.
Coach Dean Ryan said: "Without a doubt, today and next week is going to test our resources. There were some significant injuries out there.
"It's an enormous win. It's the toughest game we had in the pool.
"Bourgoin were a fired up and I thought our first 20 minutes and then our first 10 minutes after half-time were outstanding and that gave us full control of the game."
Glaws were 17-0 up at half-time after Anthony Allen’s (right) great solo try and James Simpson-Daniel’s typical effort from a line-out.
In the second half Ryan Lamb, who had converted both earlier tries, crossed for a third which he again converted and after Julien Frier barged his way over for Bourgoin, Andy Titterrall’s late try was crucial.
Lamb again converted to take his tally for the game to 16, underlining again his huge potential and on-the-field professionalism a week after spending a night in the police cells following a late-night city centre incident.The entire team played well to give a performance that serves notice – Gloucester really do mean business this season.If only they could have better luck with injuries.
