Glaws must regroup for two massive games - coach

Two defeats in two games mean Gloucester are virtually out of the Heineken Cup already, and as they say in that other game .... now they can concentrate on the League.

Returning to Premiership fare at Kingsholm this weekend will probably come as something of a relief, even though the visitors are Leicester Tigers.

You wouldn’t normally choose them as your opponents for a game in which you hope to do some repair work after those two Heineken setbacks and two home defeats on the bounce.

But the Tigers this season aren’t what they have so often been in the past – well not yet, anyway.

They were hit more than any other Prem club by the World Cup and their start to the season was a shocker, but they have shown signs of finding form and are now third bottom with a closable gap between them and the middle of the table and have won both their opening Heineken Cup games.

They gave Glaws a bit of a towelling in the LV= Cup at Welford Road, winning 40-14 in October, but of course the Prem is a different matter and Glaws are keen to stop their own rot.

It’s been a bit of a furustrating start to the season for the cherry and whites, but the feeling in the Kingsholm camp is that they are better than their inconsistent form suggests.

Now is the time for them to prove it ... the Tigers game is followed by a visit to Newcastle Falcons, and another defeat against the side most people are tipping to go down really would be a disaster.

Disappointed by the way his team lost at home to Harlequins in the Heineken Cup last weekend, Glaws coach Bryan Redpath admitted: “The next two games are massive for us, specially after losing the last two at home – that’s made things more difficult.

“We have to accept the criticism and regroup for the Leicester game and for the next one at Newcastle.

“There are no easy games, of course, but we have go get things right in these two.”
