Glaws revival must start on Boxing Day

Coach Bryan Redpath asked Gloucester's players earlier this week what they want to achieve in the second half of the season. Perhaps he would have been better TELLING them what he, the club and the fans expect them to achieve.

Let’s face it, the season has hardly set us those of a cherry and white persuasion alight so far, and the least we can expect is an improvement in the second half of the season.

And a start to that improvement would be very welcome at home to Wasps on Boxing Day.

Mapping out what was necessary before that game, Redpath told the Citizen: "We've got to sit down as a group and work out what we want out of the next six months.

Let's make sure we start Boxing Day the way we want to kick on for the rest of the season.

“At the moment we're just not firing. We've won the two games that have been tight, and that's after losing some tight games against Toulouse, Saracens and Leicester, and we had masses of opportunities against Quins at home and didn't take them.

"And that's had a knock-on effect I think on our confidence.

“I think we have been nervous. We've had a tough two months, but we have to take the criticism that's dished out, because we didn't perform very well, so we have to accept that.

"Sadly we're just not playing well enough at the moment for them (the fans) to be really proud. I don't mind them booing, because we had a poor first half, I've got no issues with that.”

Hopefully, there will be less reason for boos from now on ... Glaws have been undone by an alarming level of inconsistency this season.

Putting that behind them is vital.
