Has Tindall really said goodbye to Glaws?

The Barbarians' 29-28 win over Ireland at Kingsholm provided Gloucester fans with a chance to bid a fond farewell to Mike Tindall and Rory Lawson ... and to pay a fitting tribute to the late, great John Brain.

There was an emotional one-minute silence followed by a minute’s applause in memory of Brain, who died earlier this week, before the kick-off and an equally emotional reception for Tindall and Lawson after their departure from the cherry and whites at the end of the season.

Tindall actually scored one of the Barbarians’ tries in their narrow win.

There is a chance, of course, that he could stay with the club in a coaching capacity – an idea he says he would welcome as he looks to the future. But he insists he still wants to play, and turning to coaching may not be as easy as it might look.

It will all depend, of course, on who takes over as coach at Kingsholm and what he would want to do for a coaching staff.

While Glaws are probably right not to rush into things, the new man will have much to do when he takes over and those fans who are becoming impatient as they await a decision are probably right … time is moving on.

Meanwhile, Tuesday was a fitting farewell for Tindall and Lawson and while the Scot heads for a fresh start with Newcastle Falcons, it’s all still up in the air for Tindall.

Like most of the fans, he would probably appreciate a bit  more urgency as Glaws hunt for a replacement for Bryan Redpath.
